Volcano Disaster
Same as catalog #503639 Master 1490 - Tape 2 Shaky aerial shot of volcano damage (hardening black lava) in remote area, small buildings scattered atop hillside. TLS gaseous smoke erupting, emanating from just beyond mountain (apparently a volcano-- Mount Etna -- just over yonder). TLSs building facades crumbling, falling into street, spewing building soot & dust every which way; TLSs smoldering piles of debris; more shots of buildings crumbling into street. TLS hardening lava slowly streaking or crumbling down valley into town.

TLS Korean man tossing pan of water onto smoldering rubble. TLS Korean men filling pans with water on street. MS young Korean woman w/ sleeping child strapped to back/waist weeping while placing folding cloth & placing it into cabinet on street. TLS mass chaos as prisoners wrestle with prison guards in work detail yard, other prisoners running every which way. TLS prisoners & guards running from closed iron gates while lorry (truck) plows through gates -- prison escape! MS prison guard firing Thompson M1928A1 submachine gun (Tommy gun) from guard tower. Dark MS white male prisoner tapping on pipe with leather shoe (communicating with fellow inmates). (5-3) MS white male prisoner crouching in darkened jail cell, pointing Tommy gun through window bars, nite; MSs prisoner firing machine gun through bars; MS two prison guards standing at watchtower when bullets break bulb on searchlight (hit the lights!), prompting the guards to return fire; MSs bullets piercing wall, shattering radio on table. TLS prisoners walking through cell block, gas slowly filling room. High angle TLS screws slinking along prison alley, elongated shadows on walls. MS hand of dead white man grasping switch protruding from rubble. (5-4) Great MS "Federal Penitentiary" sign on cement wall. Nice MS steps, darkened doorstep, metal bars & lock gate in FG. TLS var views unidentified federal penitentiary, last shot with watchtower in shot. (5-8)
Movie Premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Nice 3/4 view LSs Grauman's Chinese Theater (Mann's Chinese Theater) and auto traffic driving along Hollywood Boulevard, night; cars have headlights on, neon lights flash outside Grauman's. Rear view TLS spectators & newsreel cameramen (general hubbub) at red carpet outside Grauman's, preparing for arrival of celebrities at movie premiere.
Three Car Collision... Drag Race!
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Great TLS three car collision involving a jalopy drag racing hot rod, convertible coupe roadster & a spiffy 1940s model sedan on shady suburban street. One hot rod drag racing in right lane smacks turning sedan in left rear quarter panel, sending it into minor tailspin when convertible roadster slams into right rear quarter panel, the convertible driver feigning death or injury. Neat-o, daddy-o.
Woman Being Gagged by Man
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Great MS young white man gagging young white woman with his hand over her mouth outside apartment, woman resisting but not enough to get free. Man smiles while she struggles.
Silent Comedy (Boxer)
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Excerpt from silent comedy. MS mustachioed boxer wearing skull & crossbones on back of shirt stretching in corner between rounds, cornerman drinking water from bottle, then attempting to spray it in his man's face to cool him off only to have him duck, the ring announcer getting doused. Boxer tosses bucket of water at cornerman, then demands to be cooled off. Nice CU ring bell being rung.
Silent Comedy
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Excerpt from silent comedy. MSs burly white wrestling, struggling with trampish man, eventually slamming him against wall & tossing him (well, an obvious dummy) out window. MS mustachioed white man hanging from building by rope stuck to his back, legs actively kicking for help. MS police officers leading criminal (man wearing comedic B&W striped jailbird outfit with ball & chain) from room.
Smoke Signals
Master 1490 - Tape 2 LS/TLSs smoke signals being created from atop desert bluff. Funky LS smoke signals puffing from verysame desert bluff, only the film occasionally runs in reverse motion so the smoke puffs return curiously to the source. Odd, but interesting.
Rain-Slicked Streets of Hollywood, Night
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Excellent TLSs automobile traffic driving along rainy streets of Hollywood, night; the glare of headlights & neon signs reflect in colorful pools on street; many taxi cabs pass by; occasionally the streets are void of cars, and the bright reflected colors of the neon signs streak along the rain-slicked like a glossy-wet Richter abstract painting. Beautiful. TLS/MSs shadowy huddled figures walking, skulking along rainy, seedy, colorful sidewalks (sometimes in 18fps). Gorgeous colors.

(27-7) Nice head-on TLS/MS two older white men-- their mien & clothes & gait haggard by years of poverty, abuse & drink-- walking, talking along slum sidewalk; old man on left w/ ill-fitting light blue jacket notices camera, smiles greatly. (27-8) TLS stout African-American man wearing shabby blue jacket exiting, descending steps of Skid Row Church, followed by several derelict older or middle-aged white men. TLSs other economically poor white men exiting Skid Row Church. (27-9) Great panning TLS men walking along seedy sidewalk, stop at Harry's Club (sponsored by Coca-Cola), outside which several white & black men stand & chat (segregated, natch). Subjective POV Drive Through SF Streets From Atop Cop Car
Master 1490 - Tape 2 Slightly high angle TLS 1970s model vehicles parked in motor pool lot of police station, cam mounted atop squad car. Excellent subjective POV traveling shot police squad car driving through streets of San Francisco, two red lights flashing constantly (cam mounted atop cop car-- for visual reference, think opening credits of "Police Squad" & "The Naked Gun"); cop car passes cars, trucks, vans, trolley street cars (SF's famed cable cars), bypasses stopped traffic, and even travels through several intersections on red lights! Single continuous take. Cop car travels up & eventually down notorious San Francisco hills. Too cool. Cut to another take, this time in a less hilly & more residential area (note the Victorian houses on screen right after intersection) of San Francisco; this take begins with cop car driving through intersection during red light, nearly creaming a Ford Mustang manned by inattentive driver; cop car pulls into police station & cul de sac.
