Says there is a "different philosophy", blames DEMOCRATS for requesting too much spending, says that the DEMOCRATS are therefore wrong to blame REAGAN for the DEFICIT. REAGAN says he believes in "less spending, less taxes, and more prosperity". Gives a litany of the economic evils caused by DEMOCRATS policies-recessions, debt, inflation, etc. 01.15.12-DUKE: REAGAN is taking his case to the American people. Introduces Rep. TOM FOLEY. Shot of DUKE and FOLEY seated for an interview. DUKE asks if REAGAN can succeed by taking his case to the people through TV. FOLEY says that even the REPUBLICANS wouldn't dare to vote for the budget that REAGAN proposed. The cuts are too steep and the budget is unrealistic, and the proposed remedies for the DEFICIT are unpalatable to voters. Now CONGRESS will have a chance to make a budget, says that the budget impasse is "not Armageddon". 01.16.24-WERTHEIMER: Says that CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRATS who voted for REAGAN'S budget in 1981 will be put to the test as the campaign heats up in 1982. MSs entertainer VAN JOHNSON -- wearing loud multi-patterned suit jacket with fat blue tie-- being interviewed. CU male African-American TV reporter. C/A Van Johnson playing with eyeglasses on sheet of paper on table. Van Johnson: "I roll over about 6 o' clock in my bed and I think, Oh, they're all getting into their makeup at Universal, going to do MacMillian and Wife, which I just finished, but I just gear myself for that 8:30 curtain here every night." Reporter asks for his opinion on the Casa Manana Theater. Van Johnson: "It's just fabulous & quite beautiful. I appeared for Billy Rose years ago-- before you were born-- on the beaches of Sacramento. He brought Casa to New York and bought the old French casino, and a lot of thw wonderful showgirls were from Texas. Beautiful girls like Stuttering Sam, Mary Dowell, and Butch Bigby. I kept hearing about Casa Manana in Ft. Worth, then I was disillusioned yesterday when they said that this was not the original, that it was torn down.

DO NOT SELL ON PREVIEW TAPE # 201128 This is a compilation reel of scenes deemed too racy by the TV censor board, scenes left on the cutting room floor before broadcast. There are two films represented. 1) RED DUST starring JEAN HARLOW set in tropical wilds (possibly Africa), and CLARK GABLE. There are four excerpts. SEG A: an unidentified man returns to his swanky metropoliltan home to find his wife dressed to the sexy nines and in the company of a cosmopolitan Gable. The husband silently and cowardly puts a coat over his wife's shoulders, they exunt (adultery at its most implied). SEG B: quick MS of sly Gable sliding a wad of cash between the sweaty breasts of an unidentified woman. SEG C: MSs of JEAN HARLOW, an insatiable blond helping Gable take his clothes off (a decent build, that Clark had); he wants nothing to do with her, she wants everything to do with him. SEG D: MS of the aforementioned blond taking a bath in a barrel, using her feminine wiles to try and seduce unbendable Clark (nice shot of him angrily dunking her head). 2) BEAST OF THE CITY starring JEAN HARLOW. Only one segment here, fairly long and erotically charged. A hard boiled cop pays sultry Jean a surprise visit on a simmering summer evening. They trade barbs and tenuous innuendo for some time, neither trusting the other as far as they could throw them. After sharing a few cigarettes, a couple of cold beers and a suggestive dance they give in to the tension, hook up.

MSs Jimmy Carter talking to crowd from podium, saying that once the South had shucked the stigma of the race issue, the rest of the nation was ready for a Southern candidate, that in the only part of the nation that he didn't do well in the primaries was the far west but that was mostly because of the strong candidacy of Sen. Frank Church. CU young white woman with long blond hair taking still photograph. just a few states during the entire, long 30 state process, that are crucial to you in the number of delegates you acquire I think this has been the kind of campaign that has erased any lingering sectional boundaries or divisions. After we in the South, we able to throw off the millstone of preoccupation with the race issue, certainly it was a tedious and very hard thing to do - a traumatic experience for us, but once that occurred, I think that this led to groundwork for support by the rest of the nation of a Southern candidate. And because of my success in states like Illinois and Wisconsin and Michigan and Maine and Vermont and New Hampshire and Pennsylvania and so forth, I think this is a good indication that I am able to bring together all parts of the nation. The only part of the country I didn t do well in was in the far West, but I think that was because of the strong candidacy, in the closing stages, of Senator Church and the home state candidate.

Good MS Ronald Reagan, Well, I am in great and violent disagreement with those in Congress that believe we should be fighting the recession instead of inflation. I think inflation is the cause of our problems. We ve had almost 40 years of a deliberate, planned inflation. This was called The New Economics. This was the philosophy behind The New Deal, The Fair Deal, The Great Society, whatever. And I protested about it then, that it never has worked in history and I think what we need to do is to fight inflation. And to do that we have to reduce the size and cost of government. We have got to balance the budget. We ve got to allow more capitol to remain in private hands for the expansion of industry, to give our people the jobs they need. And certainly we ve got to allow the people to have more of their earnings in their pockets to spend, rather than government spending it for them. Right now government is very close to the half way mark, taking half of every dollar earned in this country.

Great MCU "Elvis" bringing chubby finger to graded sunglasses, pushing them up nose, slowly looking to ceiling, breathing heavily, then saying that he leaves it up to the audience to decide if he looks or sounds like Elvis. MCU two large rings on chubby fingers of right hand. CU "Elvis" saying he didn't want to perform the night the real Elvis Presley died, but the audience wanted him to so he did; says he deeply loved and respected Elvis.
