After winning the National League race by a nose, the St. Louis Cardinals take on the New York Yankees in the World Series. The opening games are thrillers right down to the last out. The Cards take the measure of the Yankees in the first game, but New York comes right back to even up the series. Whichever way the baseball bounces, this Fall's classic is a thriller. Outside of Bush Stadium and throngs of baseball fans waiting to gain entrance. St. Louis Cardinals pennants. Two baseball pitchers standing together, The Yankee pitcher - Whitey Ford and the Cardinals pitcher - Ray Sadecki. Jammed packed stadium with cheering baseball fans. Tom Tresh hits a homerun to center field. Whitey Ford singles home the third run of the innings and makes it 3 to 1 Yankees. Cardinals Mike Shannon at bat, and he bats a homerun putting the Cardinals on the board. Al Downing pitching for the Yankees, Cardinals pick up on the ball and scoring the fourth run of the inning. Lou Brock slams another homerun that sews up the game for the Cardinals.
Forest Fires in California
Fires burn in California from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. Fires burn more than 65,000 square acres of Los Padres National Forest for ten days before they're brought under control. Now the hills hold another threat, floods. Dept. of Agriculture initiates a giant reseeding project for the burnt out park area. 500,000 lbs. of special grass seed mixture is sprayed onto the ground, just in time for rainy season. Devastating view of the fires engulfing the forest of California Aerial shot - Plane flying over the fires recording the locations of the fires. Aerial - As the plane flies over the burning forest a huge cloud of smoke emerges off the passengers side of the plane. Aerial - looking down at burned out forest. The small airport's landing strip a plane lands and men are loading up the plane with a special mixture of grass seed, Aerial - Looking down at the plane that's loaded with the special grass seed. Pilot wearing a protective mask on his nose and mouth and you see the plane dropping the seed on to the burned out forest.

Nazi atrocity footage filmed by the U.S. Army Signal Corps - Hadamar Center: Formally a German mental institution, being used as a killing center by the 3rd Reich's T4 program, the systematic killing of Germans whom the Nazis judged to be unfit to live because of alleged genetic diseases or mental or physical disabilities. It seems that at the time this film was made they were unaware of the exact function of this institution.

Nazi atrocities filmed by the U.S. Army Signal Corps - Nordhausen Concentration/Labor Camp: Footage of camp after liberation by the 3rd Arm Div, 1st US Army. This was a sub-camp of Dora-Mittelbau which held Polish & Russian prisoners too weak or ill for work. When the 104th US Infantry Division liberated the camp on April 12, 1945, they found thousands of corpses and many more barely living skeletons.
