Atomic Attack - PT6
MS mother & daughter entering the kitchen. MS door with chain lock rattling back & forth as men outside try to break in. MS mother & daughter shouting for the men to go away. MS door as mother & daughter get closer, an older man comes out of the basement and yells for the men to leave. MS as teenage girl comes out of the basement with a rifle, the old man takes the gun & warns the intruders once again, man moves his way to window, points & shoots. MS frightened mother & daughter holding each other tightly, the intruders retreat.

MS/MCU older man standing in kitchen with riffle as a thankful teenage girl approaches, there are various exchanges between man, woman & daughter as dialog explains why the man has been hiding in the basement, he is a wanted man due to his role in the development of the bomb, the girl has been hiding him in the cellar to evade capture.

MS mother exiting kitchen to see who is knocking at the front door, her teenage daughter pleads with her to let the old man she's been hiding in the basement stay, woman meets civil service man in jumpsuit in the living room, he asks about the gunshots, she suggests that she was the one who fired, woman quickly escorts the man out the front door as she thanks him for stopping by. MS daughter & old man standing in the kitchen doorway, waiting to hear if mother had turned him in. MS woman at door stating that she hadn't. MS daughter & old man joining woman in the living room, MCU as they discuss how to keep the identity of the old man a secret.

Atomic Attack - PT7: Great 1950's melodrama about what an atomic bomb attack could do to a typical middle-class American family. Taking its cue from "Duck and Cover", this film suggests that not only can an atomic bomb attack on 12 major cities in the US be fought and survived, but that the quiet New York suburb where this story takes place (only 70 miles from ground zero), can be almost totally unaffected and back to normal within days after such an attack.

Title card reading: "The Sixth Day". MS two grade school aged girls dressed in mother's over-sized hats & dresses giggling & dancing around the living room as teen aged sister shakes her hips to the up-beat music playing on the radio, the crabby drunk woman (bomb refugee) who has been boarding in their home walks into the scene yelling at the girls for being too loud, the children's mother comes in defending their actions. MS mother & drunk woman yelling at each other in the hallway, high stress & cabin fever are getting the best of them. MS inside bedroom as woman of the house enters to have words with the second female refugee border in her home, a woman who is severely depressed and can't get out of bed "And you, lying there all day like a stone...", the three release their frustration & calm down a bit, there is surprise on the women s faces as the telephone (which has been out of service) begins to ring.

MS woman running down hallway to answer ringing telephone, her two female borders & teen aged daughter stand by intensely, waiting to hear the news of the caller, the look on the woman's face tells it all, bad news as she hangs up the receiver walks like a grief stricken Zombie to take a seat on the couch. MCU woman's face as she tells her audience that the city has been destroyed by the bomb. MS pan as elderly man walks the grief stricken woman to her room, there is realization by everyone (her daughters included) that her husband is dead. Fade to black as dramatic plays.

MCU/MS woman and older man seated on the back patio sorrowfully reminiscing about all they have been through since the bomb attack, the sadness, the courage, the hope.

MS as women enters the kitchen, she is greeted by her teen aged daughter who informs her that one of their bomb refugee boarders will be leaving. MS as mother & daughter enter living room to see their guest packed & ready to leave. MCU exchanges between the women, it appears that the guest has been stricken with radiation poisoning, a civil service man dressed in jumpsuit arrives to take the woman to the hospital. MS woman & civil service man exiting the house, zoom to MCU mother & teen daughter standing at door, with a sadness in her voice the daughter acknowledges that the woman is going to die.

MS grade school aged girl seated at the kitchen counter with a plate of food & a glass of milk in front of her, she appears distant in thought as she rubs her face & head, she takes the plate of uneaten food & empties it into the garbage can, then exits the room. MS woman in her bedroom seated at dressing table brushing her hair as her young daughter walks in, woman begins brushing her daughter's hair but the girl begins crying saying that it hurts, woman looks at the brush to see that the girl is losing her hair in clumps, the girl admits that she hasn't been feeling well & has lost her appetite, the woman hugs the girl tightly & carries her to the bed, she fears that her daughter is experiencing radiation poisoning. MS as woman runs into the hallway, she asks her teen aged daughter to fetch the doctor.

MS elderly male doctor seated on bed w/grade school aged girl as he puts bandage on her finger after drawing blood, the doctor suggests that that the girl lie down. MS doctor in hallway talking to girl's mother & older sister, the mother becomes stressed out fearing the worst, mother sends the teen for additional help.
