Porter Wagoner Ep 153 - Promo
Promo for Porter Wagoner Show #153 with special guests Pee Wee King and The Collins Sisters. In a staged "casual" arrangement, Porter sits on a stool on the Wagon House surrounded by Wagonmasters Speck Rhodes, George McCormick, and Mack Magaha who are pretending to rehearse with Pee Wee King as Dolly Parton, Buck Trent, and Don Howser are seen chatting in the background. Porter invites us all to join him right here on this channel: "We show you a good time."
Porter Wagoner Ep 153 - Open
Opening of Porter Wagoner show #153. Program opens with Wagoner and Wagonmasters Mack Magaha, Buck Trent, Speck Rhodes, Don Warden, and George McCormick as well as Dolly Parton onscreen singing "Howdy Neighbor Howdy" in front of the "Wagon House" set, built to resemble a country barnyard. Over brightly colored title card decorated with drawing of Wagoner, announcer Don Howser exclaims: "And now, in color, it's The Porter Wagoner Show, starring Porter Wagoner and The Wagonmasters, with Speck Rhodes and Dolly Parton. Special guests Pee Wee King and The Collins Sisters. Bringing you your favorite songs and stars of the Grand Ole Opry!" Howser enters and shakes hands with Porter, who wears an aqua Nudie suit covered in rhinestone cacti and wagon wheels. Howser and Wagoner clown around for a second, then Howser introduces Wagoner saying "Our star of the show, friends, is the fella who has the goods looks comparable to that of Richard Burton, the charm of that equal to Elizabeth Taylor " Porter interjects something semi-intelligible about "Tell them (unclear)" and Don replies "I forgot the rest of the lines." Then backed by The Wagonmasters (in matching orange western-themed Nudie suits of their own), Porter plays guitar and sings a short, tight, revved-up rendition of the bluegrass standard "Shady Grove." MS Mack Magaha on fiddle and Buck Trent on electric banjo.
Porter Wagoner Ep 153 - Pee Wee King "Deck Of Cards"
Porter introduces "one of the finest men in country music and a great entertainer," Pee Wee King. Wearing a suit decorated with King's crowns and backed by The Wagonmasters, King recites T. Texas Tyler's famous monologue "Deck Of Cards." King's hurried delivery is a mere shadow of Tex Ritter's touching rendition of the same number on show #116 earlier in the season. Porter returns and they plug "Country Western Hoedown," the movie King produced ("and financed," King makes a point of adding-- twice).

Leading the Wagonmasters, Mack Magaha fiddles and dances us out of the commercial interruption with a quick instrumental breakdown.

Porter Wagoner 153 - Pee Wee King & Collins Sisters "Oh Lonesome Me"
Porter reintroduces Pee Wee King, who introduces from his own touring show, The Collins Sisters, who wear identical bright green skirts with silver blouses. Backed by The Wagonmasters and King on accordion, Collins girls sing "Oh Lonesome Me," clapping and dancing a meager little step during the instrumental break. Afterwards Porter once again plugs Pee Wee's film Country Western Hoedown, saying it features 33 musical numbers.

MS/TLSs hundreds of construction workers in yellow hardhats (hard hats) running along Wall Street w/ American flags, breaking up anti-war protest, violently beating up protesters on steps of Federal Hall, New York City. "Now it's time to meet the pretty little lady on our show," says Porter by way of introducing miss Dolly Parton (wearing emerald, green dress). Dolly plays guitar and sings her own composition "Why Why Why" backed by The Wagonmasters. MS Buck's banjo solo.

Porter Wagoner Ep 153 - Speck Rhodes Comedy Routine
Porter returns from commercial and thanks us for patronizing his sponsors, then introduces the next segment, saying "I want to make sure you watch real close, there may be a message in this, I don't know." The next thing we see is gap-toothed comedian Speck Rhodes, wearing his usual checkered suit and bowler hat, placing a call to his fictional girlfriend/ telephone operator Sadie on an old-fashioned crank-style wall telephone. Speck asks Sadie to connect him to dentist Doc Pullem, then tells a bunch of corny old-fashioned hayseed jokes. Afterwards a laughing Porter returns, saying "Speck, you've lost it, my boy."

Porter expresses how gratifying it is to receive requests for sacred songs, so he plays guitar and sings "Family Bible" accompanied by The Wagonmasters.

The Wagonmasters with George George McCormick singing lead, Buck Trent, Mack Magaha, and George perform "Columbus Stockade Blues." They do their best to crack one another up; fiddle solo by Mack Magaha.
Porter Wagoner Ep 153 - Wagonmasters "The Waltz You Save For Me"
Porter says that with so many fast tunes featured on the show, it's about time for a slow one, so The Wagonmasters perform the instrumental "The Waltz You Save For Me." Don Warden is featured soloist on his steel guitar, giving the piece a Hawaiian feel. Afterwards Porter makes a point of thanking Don Howser, as if he were a guest. Then Wagoner wraps up the show, waving goodbye as The Wagonmasters play the instrumental show outro, Pee Wee King and The Collins Sisters square dance, Don Howser signs off, the credits roll, one of the Collins girls chases Speck around his bass, George shouts out a couple square dance calls, and Mack fiddles and dances us off the air.
