The World Series had a story-book finish as the Cardinals meet the New York Yankees in the final game and St. Louis goes on to win the World Championship, four games to three. Bush Stadium, St Louis, Missouri The Cardinals are playing the New York Yankees. In the 4th inning Tim McCarver hits the ball and for a while it is thrown between basis. Then Ken Boyer scores a homerun! Mel Stottlemyre pitching to Dal Maxvill and it is a double steal sending McCarver streaking home. Maxvill singles home a third run the Cards go ahead in the 4th inning and there they stay until they are crowned World Champs in the 9th. The ball is hit by No #14 and the Yanks score in the 6th by Ken Boyer Cardinal hero of an earlier game comes up with another homer to make it 7 to 3. St. Louis hangs on to win their first World Series.

The 30th Master Golf Tourney was typical of some superb golf played during the year: Augusta, Georgia Jack Nicklaus putts his ball and just misses the golf hole. Arnold Palmer putts the golf ball for a 20 ft birdie and he is 12-strokes under par. Palmer is congratulated by his agent and they walk over to get the trophy and prize money. Throngs milling around on the golf course. The traditional Green Masters Jacket is put on Arnold Palmer and he is wearing a big, big smile on his face.

The Indianapolis 500 saw death at the wheel right from the start. Two drivers were killed and others badly injured in a seven-car pile-up on the second lap. Indianapolis, Indiana Thirty three cars started in this race and as the cars come into the straight away Dave MacDonald looses control of his car and spins into the wall, when he hit the car explodes. Other cars get involved altogether 7. You see one of the cars coming out of the fire and smoke and the car itself is on fire, all of a sudden it explodes Latter on that day, MacDonald dies in the hospital. Ronnie Duman scrambles over the in-field wall, badly burned but alive. The track is cleared and the race is on. Race cars on the track, AJ Foyt crosses the line and is declared the winner of the race. AJ Foyt pulls off the track into the pit area, exhausted.

Kelso was named "Horse Of The Year" for the fifth time. He wound up his career by winning the Washington D.C. International and earned more than $1,800,000 during his long career. The Washington D.C. International Race Track. Trainer walking his horse covered in a blanket passing other horse stables. Kelso the wonder horse who was named "Horse of the Year". Throngs of sports spectators enjoying the day at the races. Two horses on the track, battling for the win and it's No #5 - Kelso. Jockey and Kelso go into the winners circle.

Dallas, Texas Camera pans the huge crowd at the Cotton Bowl. Corn Huskers quarterback is Churchich and he passes the ball to Harry Wilson for a 36 yard side line play. Wilson keeps the ball rolling with a 10 yard smash that bring the ball to the 1 yard line. Wilson goes over the 1 yard line and scores a touchdown. The Razorbacks, Fred Marshall, rallied late in the fourth period to produce the winning touchdown. Fred Marshall throws the ball to Jim Lindsey a 28 yard pass. Bobby Burnett and less than 5 minutes to play chalks up Arkansas chalks up a Cotton Bowl Victory.
Sugar Bowl - LSU 13 Syracuse 10
Footage is damaged Syracuse and Louisiana mount some sweet football in the Sugar Bowl at New Orleans. In the first half an LSU punt is Blocked and the Orange score first blood. LSU gets going in the second half as they score and make a two-point conversion to tie it up. In the last minutes a field goal spells an LSU victory 13 to 10. New Orleans, Louisiana New Orleans college football stadium. LSU punt blocked and Syracuse swoops in and picks up the football and runs it in for a touchdown. LSU in the second half a bomb by LSU to Doug Moreau. LSU goes for 2 points. LSU Quarterback throws for a 36 yard play. LSU call on Doug Moreau's good right foot, the kick is good and LSU has a Sugar Bowl victory.
