Bill Jones of Denver sets a record of 215 miles an hour in his streamlined job. Men ready their cars; some vehicles appear to be almost homemade, creatively built; a few look futuristic. UN Anniversary: Acheson Pays Tribute to Heroes of Korea. On the sixth anniversary of the signing of the United Nations charter, U.S. State Secretary Dean Acheson makes the keynote address lauding combined efforts of United Nations fighting in Korea against world aggression. Soldiers of nations fighting in Korea are special guests at anniversary celebration. Soldiers in formation on steps of some classical-style building stand in the shape of the letters "U N". Tracking shot past soldiers of different nations. Acheson speaks at podium (nat sound), admits UN has not achieved its initial goals because "one of the great powers" (USSR) is not cooperating.

Korea: War Goes On Despite Cease-Fire Reports Reports that the U.N. Allies and the Communists had begun a 'no attack' truce along the front are brought to a dramatic halt. After the cease-fire rumors had been scotched, big guns open up along the front. Meanwhile, Vice President Barkley arrives for an inspection trip on his 74th birthday. POV from just in front of tank - the tank's gun pokes into frame. Soldier riding on front of tank looks through binoculars. Officer speaks to a group of soldiers seated on the ground; one of the soldiers stands up to ask a question. Est. shot tent, helmeted guards out in front. Caucasian man speaks to journalists (?) gathered around him in small group. Soldier talks on field telephone; his buddies scramble into position. Men load weapon (tank?); tank fires. View from just in front of tank again, this time with a plume of smoke rising in the distance. General Van Fleet welcomes Vice President Barkley as he gets off a small plane. Barkley chats with soldiers, General Matthew Ridgway looking on in background. Barkley inspects Turkish soldiers (part of the U.N. effort).

News in Brief: California, Lady Godiva - 1951. Mrs. Jerry Coburn creates quite a stir when she rides as 'Lady Godiva' during a horse show. But obedient husbands turn their backs as she arrives, and police act fast to prevent peeking. Blond woman sits reading book to man. The same woman, wearing very long blond hair (wig, most likely) and not much else, rides a white horse with a sign around its neck, "Taxes too high." Audience of ranch-type folk in cowboy hats, flannel, etc., stand up and turn their backs to the camera. The lady rides around, sidesaddle-style (but without a saddle). Older man peeks between slats in a fence, but a cowboy type with a sheriff's badge catches and gently shakes the peeping tom. A group of gentleman cowpokes wrap the lady in a blanket for modesty. Nudity?

Tax Probes: Ex U.S. Prosecutor Faces Committee. While President Truman begins drastic clean-up of the tax department, ousted Asst. Attorney General T. Lamar Caudle faces House investigators and tells his story of the dealings that led to his dismissal by the president. Mr. Caudle is an unhappy, harried witness as he takes the stand. Dark shots of House subcommittee investigation. Caudle complains, says "No one on earth can feel at home in this place." Laughter. Off-screen man (Congressman Burns?) asks a question; Caudle replies that there are often quick conversations, memos that aren't thought through and other things happening so quickly -- questioner interrupts, "Well, that's a pretty sloppy way to run a department, isn't it?" Caudle actually pulls at his collar in his anxiety. Government scandal.

News in Brief: Kids 'Play' Post Office No kissing game, this, but a serious game of charity for others less fortunate. Postmasters are youngsters whose pictures appear on stamps, sale of which helps bring cheer to kids in orphanges. Various sheets of stamps each featuring the portrait of a child, and shots of some of the children who are featured. Children act as workers and customers at play "post office" and one little girl sits on a stack of books to get high enough.

News in Brief: Atlantic City Fire. Worst fire in history of the famed ocean resort sweeps through two city blocks, destroying four hotels and thirteen homes in its path. The famed Congress Hotel goes up in smoke. VS aftermath of fire, a lot of destruction (many buildings), smoke still rising. The sign for the Congress Hotel is lying on the ground.
