JERRY FALWELL speaking at the funeral, compares the KOREAN AIRLINER incident to PEARL HARBOR, says that the bright side is that the whole world will wake up to the "dirty old men in the Kremlin" [this is an exact quote] and their "godless Marxist-Leninist empire of barbarism" [also a direct quote]. Crowd applauds and cheers. Rep. DOWNEY says that CONSERVATIVES are in position to say "I told you so", so the immediate result will probably be more arms and more hostility. 20.19.05-Shot of ANTICOMMUNIST marchers holding signs of protest over McDONALD'S death. GINGRICH says that he "senses" "out there" that "forty to fifty percent" of the people have decided that the U.S.S.R. is "really that bad".
