Rep. SANDER LEVIN (D-MI), says the rebel Democrats had courage to vote for lower deficits, other members need courage to force REAGAN to address DEFICIT. Rep. JIM MOODY (D-WI) says the DEFICIT is serious problem. Rep. JIM WRIGHT argues that the real DEFICIT villain is REAGAN, who won't reduce MILITARY SPENDING-"It's not BOOKS that are causing the deficit, it's BOMBS". Rep. SILVIO CONTE (R-MA) debating, jokes animatedly that the FRESHMEN DEMOCRATS are nanve to think that they can protest the DEFICIT and then turn around and vote for more spending. Rep. BILL RICHARDSON (D-NM) says he's not being pushed by the party leaders. 09.34.13-Rep. JIM SHANNON (D-MA) in office, says the Freshmen's ploy was "simpleminded" and ambiguous. Rep. MORRISON says that more senior DEMOCRATS are just surprised to see that the Freshmen are serious about the DEFICIT. Rep. KAPTUR says it's important to keep campaign promises.
