C/S of a Psychiatrist testifying about the effect that fear of NUCLEAR WAR has on children, it makes kids doubt that all the things they do in life are leading to a good future. C/S Rep. DAN MARRIOTT (R-UT) disagrees, says that adults should teach kids to be "bullish on America" instead of fearful of nuclear war [and keep that military-industrial complex rolling for another generation...]. Another psychiatrist says that adults need to give kids a sense that working to prevent nuclear war is a good role in society.

WERTHEIMER-many REPUBLICANS were uncomfortable with the hearings because they felt that DEMOCRATS used the hearings to make the REAGAN ADMINISTRATION look frightening on ARMS CONTROL, but it's fair to point out that kids have been afraid of NUCLEAR WAR long before REAGAN.
