Some footage of TERMITE NEST, closeups of TERMITES inside nests and in laboratory containers. The Entomologist [African-American woman] tells her life story as example to all the kids who want to work hard and pursue their interests in science. Some stills of variety of plant and bird life on a tropical tree. 01.09.05-Hosts entice kids toward science by talking about the inquisitive nature of scientific method. 01.09.45-Segment on a Desert Ecologist studying the natural insect resistance of some DESERT PLANTS. The Ecologist [Latino man] talks about his work and also his mission to get minority kids involved in science. Some stills and panoramics of DESERT, CACTUS, and other DESERT PLANTS. Scientist (functioning as teacher) shows slides from slide projector to classroom of students (junior high maybe?). Shots of young students working in laboratories. The Ecologist gives a brief speech about how GENETIC ENGINEERING is going to improve life. 01.14.34-intermission segement with a cartoon about GENETICALLY ENGINEERED "Supertrees". Hosts encourage kids to get into science. 01.17.00-Segment on Ecology school for Native American teens in Colorado. Some shots of mountain streams, trees, mountains, etc. Some serious romanticizing of American Indians' relationship to the land, with the tendency to compress all Indian nations into one homogenous whole. 01.22.31-hosts encourage kids to get into science. Short segment on the varieties of plants developed by Chinese and Chinese-American scientists.
