A good portion of this film is told via miniature models (trains, houses, cars, trucks... heck, the whole town is in model form. Opens with a model of a settler's farm; live-action MS of a boy fetching water from a stream; MS's of a woman on a sewing wheel, then on a loom; MS of boy gathering firewood; MS of a man making a stool in the backyard. Shots of the model, the area slowly becoming developed (people settling into the farming community, railroad tracks being built... a toy train rolling through; town stores and stations and hotels and mills popping up.... the dawn of congestion).
