The coffin of President William McKinley, who was assassinated on Sept 6, 1901, is carried from the train in Canton, Ohio.
Shot from railroad platform as the coffin is lifted out the window of train car and carried by ten sailors and soldiers serving as pallbearers. (NOTE RE MASTERS & TIME CODES: This shot ends rather abruptly at end of tape 1151 part 1, with TC at 01:12:03; the shot continues on 1151 part 2 , where TC backs up a few secs & starts running at 01:11:59 )
PART 2 The sailors carry away McKinley's coffin which is covered with a large U.S.flag and flowers. MLS pallbearers carrying the casket through a cordon of civilian dignitaries (Cabinet members?) who have removed their hats in respect. MS pallbearers pass with casket, followed by other military personnel. (and I think the new President Theodore Roosevelt may be among those in BG.) They lift the casket into the back of a waiting hearse.
