Senate Majority Leader TOM DASCHLE (D-SD) says that he is inspired by the courage of the rescue workers and the people of New York & New Jersey; that the President can count on the support of the Democratic Party; that they will take up his initiatives with speed and bipartisanship; that they will do whatever it takes to protect the nation. Mr. Daschle commends the President and the countries that have rallied around us; says that we will defeat the enemy in our defense of our ideals and freedoms; that we will not "punish entire groups for the actions of a misguided few"; that we must be "united against the acts of hatred towards innocent Arab-Americans and Muslims".
