Shaky blurry light in contrast and imagery ULM, CHARLES THOMAS PHILLIPE (1897-1934) Of French blood but Australian birth (Melbourne)he was taller than most. He enlisted in the A.I.F. at 17 and served in Egypt and Gallipoli but was repatriated wounded. Enlisting under another name in 1917 and went to the Western Front where he was wounded again. He flew with Kingsford Smith on a 'Round Australia'record flight, then a trans-Pacific flight to Australia from America in 1928. Co-founder of A.N.A..He also flew extensively in his own right in "Faith in Australia". Co-founder of Australian National Airways Ltd., he was lost at sea without trace flying an Airspeed Envoy "Stella Australis"in December 1934. Plane takes off, airborne.
