Introduction to Porter Wagoner show #87. Program opens with Wagoner and Wagonmasters Speck Rhodes, Don Warden, and George McCormick plus Norma Jean onscreen singing "Howdy Neighbor Howdy." Over title card decorated with drawing of Wagoner, announcer Hairl Hensley introduces Wagoner and The Wagonmasters, show regulars Speck Rhodes and Norma Jean, and "your favorite songs and stars of the Grand Ole Opry!" Wearing dazzling rhinestone-studded Nudie suit, Wagoner welcomes audience, then plays guitar and sings "Take Me Back To Tulsa" accompanied by The Wagonmasters. Everybody sings! At the start of the second chorus Porter accidentally elbows Norma Jean in the chest-- ouch! Then Porter jokingly mimes whacking her in the face.

Porter introduces a man he's played a lot of golf with, Archie Campbell from Bull's Gap, Tennessee. Campbell tells his long corny "that's bad/that's good" routine as seen years later on "Hee Haw." Cutaways show Wagonmasters laughing. Porter returns for unusually awkward commercial intro.

The Wagonmasters play us out of the commercial break with "Camptown Races." Lots of Buck Trent banjo wonderment. Porter returns and pitches his new live LP "On The Road."

Wagoner introduces Pretty Miss Norma Jean, who plays guitar and sings "Love's Gonna Live Here Again," backed by The Wagonmasters. MS Buck Trent's reckless guitar solo.

Backed by The Wagonmasters, Porter plays guitar and sings "Bride's Bouquet" from his 1965 LP "The Thin Man From West Plains." Porter introduces commercial message.

Porter introduces gap-toothed comedian Speck Rhodes who enters wearing his trademark checkered suit with bow tie and bowler hat. Speck "recitates" some "poultry": "Ol' mother Hubbard/she went to the cupboard/to get her poor daughter a dress/when she got there/the cupboard was bare/and so was her daughter, I guess." Backed by The Wagonmasters, Speck sings the corny novelty number "Little Shirt My Mother Made For Me" from the aforementioned "On The Road" LP.

Porter returns and plugs the show's souvenir booklet #4, "The Porter Wagoner Show Hits The Road!", containing songs and stories and pictures. It can be yours for only fifty cents by mail "in a en-vellup." Nice graphic of an envelope addressed to Wagoner.

We come out of the commercial break to find Porter reintroducing Archie Campbell's version of Mike Douglas s sappy 1966 hit "The Men In My Little Girl's Life."

Porter returns and he and Campbell engage in a little logrolling about how great the song is and much fun it is to be on the show. Porter brings Mack and in to play a little of his single "Shufflin' Back." Mack breaks it down as Porter wraps up the show. Wagoner shakes hands with Archie and Norma Jean, then waves goodbye as Magaha fiddles and dances us off the air. End title super reads: "Produced by Show Biz in cooperation with WSM-TV."
