Michael Duffy discusses why this memo is so important. He cites the obvious facts that the FBI does not get along with or communicate well with other federal agencies/departments, but what was unknown is the difficulty the FBI had communicating within its own walls. This issue led to many clues being overlooked that could have prevented 9/11. More questions are posited to Michael Duffy from others at the roundtable.
Attorney General John Ashcroft speaking to the press "I believe in the principle of community policing, it's a principle in which local police forces have a visible active law enforcement presence, that's linked to communities and neighborhoods." Barbara Bradley analyzes these comments and its possible impacts.
President George W. Bush stating to the press "We are making it very clear to both Pakistan and India that war will not serve their interests. We're a part of an International Coalition applying pressure to both parties. Particularly to President Musharraf, he must stop the incursions across the line of control." Jeanne Cummings discusses how much this issue is overshadowing other priorities on his terrorism campaign at home and on his tour through Europe and what the White House is doing to get ahead of the problem.
Focusing on the midterm elections, President Bush turns his attention to Florida. David Shribman gives his opinions on the matter.
