Hollywood TV producer GARY SMITH on the arena floor directing the "production", says he has tried to be sensitive not to make the Convention seem like a huge show devoid of substance. People hanging banners, etc.
The next shot shows a choral director leading a big chorus through a showtune number "America: The Dream Goes On". EVANS v.o.-despite Smith's protestations, the Convention was in fact a big, ready-for-prime-time show, conventions are now mostly entertainment.
