The World Series had a story-book finish as the Cardinals meet the New York Yankees in the final game and St. Louis goes on to win the World Championship, four games to three. Bush Stadium, St Louis, Missouri The Cardinals are playing the New York Yankees. In the 4th inning Tim McCarver hits the ball and for a while it is thrown between basis. Then Ken Boyer scores a homerun! Mel Stottlemyre pitching to Dal Maxvill and it is a double steal sending McCarver streaking home. Maxvill singles home a third run the Cards go ahead in the 4th inning and there they stay until they are crowned World Champs in the 9th. The ball is hit by No #14 and the Yanks score in the 6th by Ken Boyer Cardinal hero of an earlier game comes up with another homer to make it 7 to 3. St. Louis hangs on to win their first World Series.
