The protesters focused on the export of hazardous substances, worker health and safety, labor union issues and the environment. On February 14, 1949, 5,000 miners in Asbestos and Thetford, Quebec began an illegal strike for better wages and working conditions against their American-owned company. People are protesting with picket signs; "Travail indentique" "Justice pour nos maitres" and amidst all this there are children in the street's playing street hockey.

The North Atlantic nations including Canada are negotiating a security pact. The treaty when concluded will be laid before you for approval. The North Atlantic Treaty will supplement a treaty of mutual guarantee signed by the Western European Nations at Brussels last year. Such ergional arrangements are provided for by the United Nations Charter.

We have our way of life to which we hold and which we will not yield up. We believe in government by consent and that the individual personality shall be encouraged to live and grow. There is the faith to which we cling and by which we will live always. This plays a part in the Origins of the North Atlantic Treaty. All the surviving Great Powers were founder members of the new international organization. Practically all the remaining strength and wealth of the world were at its service.

The snowshoe beauty queens are all bundled up patiently awaiting for their snowshoe running athletes. "For most runners, snowshoe running will be an absolute joy and wonder." Football: Illinois, Wildcats Topple Minnesota Northwestern stages a story-book scoring drive in the final quarter, sparked by a fourth string, 147-pound quarterback to topple Minnesota, 6-0, in one of the Big Ten classics. College football highlights. Punt return for Minnesota touchdown (VO says penalty, though). Northwestern University Marching Band (NUMB) forms the letter N on the field. Female cheerleaders swing pom pons (pom poms). Cheering fans in stands. Pass for touchdown.
Porter says it's time to add some beauty to the Wagon House set, then introduces the "beautiful little lady" Dolly Parton. Wearing a dark green coat and a gravity-defying white wig, Dolly sings "Dumb Blonde" backed by The Wagonmasters. CU Buck's guitar solo. During the song Dolly makes a few references to blondes wearing wigs, and at one point Porter starts to enter the frame but she pushes him away laughing.
Backed by The Wagonmasters, Mack Magaha fiddles us out of the commercial break on an unidentified instrumental. At the very end Mack sings a few "dum-de-dum-dum"s along with the number in the classic "shave and a haircut/two bits" rhythm.
