Overview of VORTEX Study
Dr. ERIK RASMUSSEN, VORTEX Director at NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, Oklahoma gives overview of VORTEX (Verification of the Origin of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment) project. He says the primary objective is to understand what cause tornadoes to form. He says that it is safe to say that VORTEX will revolutionize tornado understanding.

Film closes with excellent montage of U.S. marines and sailors eating rations, marching, shaving, washing clothes in river, piloting naval ships, talking on field phones, playing with local children, praying, tending to wounded, at mass, fording rivers while on patrol, and so on; audio of glowingly patriotic VO by Jack Webb.
Carnival Rides
White sort of tubular shaped compartment rotates on an arm, probably meant to look like a space capsule (space race craze). Rhythmic. Doing full circles into the sky. Camera follows the cab. Dizzying just to watch it. A "spider" ride is next lots of kids going up and down on an 8-legged contraption. People walking on walkway behind it, some watch. Red and white painted ride against deep blue sky. Overhead wide shot of carnival rides. One airplane ride is rotating in the opposite direction of the ride next to it. Lots of motion, activity. Buildings in b/g. Camera pans over carnival ground (pepsi advertisement over refreshment stand is visible but a bit blurred in the pan).
