Porter introduces gap-toothed comedian Speck Rhodes who makes call on old-time crank style telephone wearing his trademark checkered suit with bow tie and bowler hat. Speck chats with fictional girlfriend/ operator Sadie and corny old-fashioned jokes ensue. At end of bit Porter returns and plugs the show's souvenir booklet #4, "The Porter Wagoner Show Hits The Road!", containing songs and stories and pictures. It can be yours for only fifty cents by mail in a "en-vellup." Nice graphic of an envelope addressed to Wagoner.

Curly Harris continued. Harris tells same joke that Stringbean used in a routine a year or so back. Backed by The Wagonmasters, Harris sings a couple verses of "Hard Luck Joe," which he introduces as "Grandmother, Quit Chewin' On The Wristwatch, You're Gumming Up The Works."

Bill Phillips returns to play guitar and sing a little bit of "It Happens Every Time." Harris keeps looking off screen, presumably to make sure he finishes in time for Porter to wrap up the show. Porter returns to close the program. As the Wagonmasters play instrumental show outro and announcer signs off, Wagoner shakes hands with Norma Jean and guests, then waves goodbye as Magaha fiddles and dances us off the air. End title super reads: "Produced by Show Biz in cooperation with WSM-TV."

Excellent newsreel of 1910's crowds gathering outside baseball parks on game day (a literal litany of Gatsby hats), followed by LS's of baseball players warming up, taking the field; good shot of the grounds crew rolling tarp over a field during rain delay. MS of President WOODROW WILSON sitting down in stadium, then throwing out the inaugural ball. Great MS of announcer in filed with huge megaphone. More stadium crowd shots. High angle LS's of players making hits, taking bases. Great MS of kids peeking through hole in wood fence; when home run ball sails over them they give chase. Great early baseball footage, nostalgia.

Introduction to Porter Wagoner show #91. Program opens with Wagoner and Wagonmasters Speck Rhodes, Don Warden, and George McCormick plus Norma Jean onscreen singing "Howdy Neighbor Howdy." Over title card decorated with drawing of Wagoner, announcer Hairl Hensley introduces Wagoner and The Wagonmasters, show regulars Speck Rhodes and Norma Jean, and "your favorite songs and stars of the Grand Ole Opry!" Wearing rhinestone-studded Nudie suit, Wagoner welcomes audience, then plays guitar and sings a short version of "Jimmy Brown The Newsboy" backed by The Wagonmasters. CU Trent's acoustic guitar. Slight blooper as director misses cue to go to Trent's solo. Nicely low-key performance sans fiddle and steel, and an atypical show opener.
